Deadline: January 22, 2026
The Professional Development for Environmental Journalism Grant Programme, offered by Journalismfund Europe and funded by Arcadia, invites organisations to submit project proposals to support collective development and capacity-building for professional environmental journalists across Europe, aiming to strengthen investigative reporting on environment-related issues through training and professional development initiatives.
This grant programme supports activities and services for environmental investigative journalism as a whole. It seeks to promote collective development to build the capacities of environmental investigative journalists, by providing funding to project ideas from organisations and institutions for training and professional development programmes, i.e., skills-focused professional training or fellowship programmes targeting investigative journalists to upskill their capacities to report on environment-related issues.
The programme is open exclusively to legal entities such as organisations or companies, while individuals cannot apply. Applications should be carefully prepared, as incomplete submissions or missing documents like full addresses, IDs, CVs, or articles of incorporation will be considered ineligible.
The total available funding per call is approximately €75,000, which will be distributed among all supported projects. This financial support is designed to enable organisations to provide structured training, workshops, fellowships, or other initiatives that enhance the professional skills of journalists in covering environmental topics.
