CFPs: International Collaboration for Information-driven Personalised Medicine (Sweden)

Deadline: January 20, 2026

Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency, offers funding for Swedish actors to participate in the European partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed) to develop and test new data-driven solutions for the treatment and management of chronic diseases through international collaboration.

The call for proposals focuses on creating opportunities to test and demonstrate new personalized solutions for information-driven treatment and management of chronic diseases, including detection or characterization of multimorbidity in patients with chronic diseases, diagnosis, follow-up or monitoring of disease progression, promoting transition from inpatient to outpatient care through remote monitoring or self-reporting, decision support for treatment strategies, monitoring and management of combination therapies to increase effectiveness and reduce side effects, and support for adherence to long-term treatment regimens. The call promotes a holistic systems perspective with emphasis on the integration of six systems dimensions: knowledge integration; technologies, products, methods and processes; utilization of infrastructures; business and value models; policies and regulations; organization, behavior and values.

Swedish actors from enterprises, public sector organizations, academia, or non-governmental organizations can apply for funding as part of an international consortium consisting of at least three project partners from three different participating countries, including at least one company and one clinical partner. Vinnova finances Swedish participation in such projects for up to three million SEK for a single party and up to five million SEK if multiple Swedish parties are involved.

Projects should involve companies and end users such as healthcare providers, patients, and researchers collaborating in controlled real-world environments to test and develop data-driven solutions that have reached at least TRL 3. Proposed projects must include a strategy for the collection, processing, and use of multimodal health data and can apply advanced data processing techniques, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, where relevant.

The projects are expected to contribute to sustainable system transformation, promoting gender equality and addressing climate change, in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Scientific results from the projects should be made open access to ensure wide dissemination and societal benefit.

Funding is provided according to state aid rules and covers personnel costs, equipment, consulting, licensing, other direct costs, and indirect costs within specified limits. Support levels vary depending on the type of activity, size of the company, and whether the organization is engaged in economic activities. Non-economic organizations such as universities and research institutes can receive up to 100 percent of their costs.

Proposals are assessed in two stages through the international EP PerMed program office, with evaluation by an external expert panel. Swedish applicants must submit a parallel application to Vinnova to confirm eligibility and receive funding, with decisions communicated after the international evaluation. Funded organizations must comply with Vinnova’s terms and conditions, report progress, and may be required to repay funding if terms are not followed.
