The European co-development support aims to enhance cooperation among European production companies to develop audiovisual works with strong international audience potential.
Focus Areas: Increased collaboration at development stage between European production companies from different countries and markets leading to more co-productions, increased quality, feasibility, cross-border potential, market value of selected projects, and a stronger position on European and international markets for companies under European co-development; support for the development of a single project for commercial exploitation for cinema release, television broadcast, or digital platforms in animation, creative documentary, or fiction categories; projects developed by at least two European independent production companies with a co-development agreement; emphasis on high creative value, cultural diversity, cross-border exploitation potential, innovative collaboration at creative and financing levels, marketing and distribution strategies from the development phase; ensuring sustainability, environmental respect, gender balance, inclusion, diversity, and representativeness in applications.
Budget (EUR) – 9,000,000 for the year 2026.
The support targets audiovisual production companies for project development with high potential for European and international market reach through co-development agreements between companies from different European countries. Projects must focus on animation, creative documentaries, or fiction aimed at commercial exploitation across cinema, television, or multiplatform environments. The initiative encourages working on strong and innovative collaboration strategies for creative and financial development and early marketing and distribution plans to improve audience reach potential. Proposals are expected to integrate sustainability and inclusiveness principles, promoting gender balance, cultural diversity, and environmental respect throughout the project’s lifecycle.
