The Business Reports for SMEs Grant Scheme offers non-repayable grants to help SMEs in Malta access external consultancy for developing business reports that support efficient and competitive growth.
This Grant Scheme falls under Policy Objective 1 A more competitive and smarter Europe by promoting innovative and smart economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity of SFC2021 Programme 2021-2027 Towards a smarter, well connected and resilient economy, a greener environment and an integrated society, and addresses the following Policy Objective and Specific Objective: PO1 Promoting entrepreneurship, in particular by facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas and fostering the creation of new firms, including through business incubators. A more competitive and smarter Europe by promoting innovative and smart economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity RSO1.3. Enhancing sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs and job creation in SMEs, including by productive investments.
The scheme is open to Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) engaged in economic activity in Malta or Gozo, regardless of legal form, so long as they meet registration requirements. Eligible actions include commissioning external services to develop a Business Plan or a Process and Systems Review through providers registered with the relevant Intermediate Body and not related to the beneficiary. Reports must include executive summaries, market and feasibility research, SWOT analysis, digitalisation strategies, proposed investments, financial projections, and a clear plan for improvements. Applicants must submit online applications and provide a signed declaration, de minimis declaration, compliance certificates, financial statements, and supporting NACE code documentation. The grant allotment is managed on a rolling basis, awarded first-come, first-served within a fixed operational period, up to a lump sum of €4,000 per approved report. Projects must complete implementation within six months from the grant agreement date, but no later than 30 June 2029 for investments.
