Deadline: October 28, 2025
UK registered businesses can apply for a share of up to £600,000 for innovative projects in quantum technologies in collaboration with Netherlands-based partners and testbed providers to advance commercial use cases.
The aim of this competition is to strengthen collaborative research and development (CR&D) through Netherlands based and UK partnerships towards commercialising quantum technologies. The co-innovation project must focus on development, prototyping and testing of commercial quantum technologies in one or more of the following themes: Software services or hardware solutions to advance commercial deployment of entanglement based quantum networking. Quantum computing algorithms, software applications, and services development. Adoption of quantum sensing for commercial applications in areas such as biosensing, public infrastructure and PNT.
Eligible projects must request between £150,000 and £300,000 in grant funding for UK partners and no more than €300,000 for Netherlands partners, lasting 18 to 24 months, starting by February 2026 and ending by February 2028. Projects must involve at least one UK business and one Netherlands business as co-leads, along with access to a testbed hosted in either country. The competition encourages balanced contributions from both nations, with no single partner or country representing more than 70% of costs, ensuring genuine international collaboration.
Funding will cover feasibility studies and industrial research projects, with support rates depending on organisation size. Research organisations can claim up to 40% of eligible project costs, while UK businesses may receive between 50% and 70% of costs depending on size. Innovate UK will fund UK partners, and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) will fund Netherlands partners.
Applications close at 11:00 am on 28 October 2025. Proposals will be assessed competitively, with funding awarded only to projects jointly selected by Innovate UK and RVO.
