Small-grant funding is being offered through the ScaleUp Grant to support Taranaki enterprises with their next steps and act as a catalyst to amplify growth.
The focus is on accelerating progress, removing barriers to growth or solving an issue; supporting activity that will resolve an issue, remove a barrier and/or help accelerate the growth of a business; readiness activities aimed at exploring, testing or developing scale-up ideas to prepare enterprises for growth; activation activities involving the actual implementation of growth strategies; new product development (including software); feasibility studies; applicants who can demonstrate how their activity will impact revenue, jobs, sustainability, and/or investment; applicants operating in food and fibre, energy, or tourism sectors which align with Venture Taranaki strategic focus areas; and applicants whose chosen activity includes technology or innovative practice.
ScaleUp Grants are aimed at for-profit small and medium businesses in Taranaki that have ambitious growth aspirations. Eligible businesses must be for-profit and operating in a commercial environment, based in Taranaki, GST registered, have 1 to 25 employees, be solvent, hold a New Zealand Business Number, and demonstrate an opportunity for growth.
Funding of up to $5,000 GST exclusive is available, with one application permitted per funding round. The grants are designed to celebrate innovative enterprises that can clearly demonstrate how their activity will take their business to the next level.
Certain activities are excluded, including business-as-usual costs, repairs and maintenance, projects not completed by 31 May 2026, illegal or inappropriate activities, activities similar to existing services or products in the same market, and activities already supported by capability training.
Applications close on 15 October 2025. Applicants must be available between 15 and 31 October 2025 for discussions if requested. All applicants will be notified of outcomes on 1 November 2025. Successful applicants will complete a midway check-in with a Venture Taranaki Enterprise Advisor in March 2026 and submit a final evaluation report by 30 June 2026.
