LaunchX is a university startup accelerator programme that turns validated ideas into fundable startups through an equity-free, no-strings-attached initiative designed to support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
The focus is on Address a real & impactful problem, Addressing a problem with potential benefits to society or the economy in Malaysia, Applicants must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the problem they are addressing and provide evidence that their solution has been validated to effectively tackle this issue, Have at least a basic prototype, Prototype that illustrates the functionality and feasibility of the solution, where teams are expected to work towards completing a fully functional MVP by the programme’s midpoint, enabling real customer piloting, Demonstrate USP, Have a unique selling point and clear differentiation from existing solutions/competitors in the market, Have a viable business model, Present a well-justified business model with a clear Go-To-Market strategy and demonstrate potential for scalability, along with roadmap for future development.
The 2025 cohort of LaunchX will run from October 2025 to April 2026, welcoming participants from across Malaysia who are eager to transform innovative ideas into startup ventures. The programme blends in-person and virtual sessions, offering students and recent graduates hands-on exposure to real-world entrepreneurial practices.
Eligibility criteria allow both solopreneurs and teams to apply, provided they are current students or recent graduates of higher education institutions in Malaysia. Teams are required to have a student as the primary driver of the startup, ensuring a true student-led initiative with defined roles and responsibilities.
Beyond the core programme, LaunchX ensures continued growth by offering alumni access to a supportive community, mentorship opportunities, and additional programmes with Sunway iLabs and partner organizations. This ensures startups continue to thrive even after the official accelerator period ends.
Participants gain multiple benefits, including guidance from seasoned mentors, access to networks of investors and entrepreneurs, equity-free support, and startup perks worth over RM100,000 from leading global partners. They also receive micro-credentials, co-working space access, and opportunities to immerse themselves in a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.
LaunchX has already supported over 30 startups and continues to emphasize empowerment, collaboration, and growth. With its fourth cohort set to launch, the programme strengthens its role as a launchpad for Malaysia’s student entrepreneurs who aspire to make a real impact.
