L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants Program 2025 (United States)

The LIA Foundation Inc. is presenting the 2025 L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants (“the Program”) to support the growth of small businesses in communities in Nassau County and Suffolk County. L.O.C.A.L. stands for Lifting Their Community Business Across Long Island.

Funding Information

  • 40 small businesses on Long Island (20 in Nassau County and 20 in Suffolk County) will receive $5,000 grants
  • Two $25,000 Grand Prize Winners (one in Nassau, one in Suffolk) for businesses that have faced extreme financial hardship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For purposes of this program, an eligible “Applicant” is:
    • One of the following business entities as defined by the State of the New York:
      • A Business Corporation
      • A Not-for-Profit Corporation
      • A Limited Liability Company
      • A General Partnership
      • A Limited Partnership
      • A Sole Proprietorship
  • All Applicants must designate a “Primary Contact.”
    • The Primary Contact must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
    • The Primary Contact owns at least 51% or more (or is the largest equity owner) of the business entity. If there are two 50% owners, one owner must be selected as the Primary Contact and the other 50% owner should be listed as a Secondary Contact.
    • The Primary Contact must be duly authorized to submit an application on behalf of the company and represents and warrants that they are authorized to act on behalf of the Applicant and has read the Official Rules and agrees to abide by these Official Rules.
  • Eligible business locations:
    • The address for the business provided in the application must be in Nassau County or Suffolk County.
    • A physical, brick-and-mortar storefront that is not also a home-based location.
    • A New York State Office of Family and Children Services-licensed day care facility, which can also be a home-based location.
    • A business that is dependent on vehicles to provide services to customers, such as construction or landscaping companies, which utilizes a home-based address. This must be demonstrated in the application.
    • A business that provides services to the community and spends a majority of their time on-site with clients but has a home-based address (for example, healthcare services, marketing/events planning, catering, etc.). This must be demonstrated in the application.
    • A food truck business.
    • An agriculture, viniculture, or aquaculture-based business that has outdoor facilities.
  • The Applicant must have 10 or fewer full-time employees.
  • The Applicant must demonstrate in the application that the funding will help them expand their business and improve the community where they operate.
  • The funding must be utilized by the Applicant by the end of 2025.
  • The Applicant must agree to be included in promotional materials for the Grant and when the project is completed to illustrate the success of the program (this includes print and digital media and across social media platforms).
  • By submitting an application, the Applicant acknowledges that they are in good standing with all federal, state, and local laws and taxing jurisdictions.
  • Prior Grant Recipients: Grant Recipients of the 2024 L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants are not eligible to apply for a $5,000 grant but can submit an application for a Grand Prize. They are not eligible for complimentary LIA membership.
  • Prior Grant Applicants: Grant Applicants of the 2024 L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grants are eligible to apply for a $5,000 grant and a Grand Prize if they submitted a progress report on their grant to the Administrator. They are not eligible for the complimentary LIA membership.
  • No purchase or payment is necessary. Void where prohibited.
