The Feasibility Study Scheme provides support to enterprises with the cost of carrying out feasibility studies to assess whether a proposed business or innovative business idea is viable, sustainable, and has the potential for success.
The scheme focuses on Health and Well-being, Sustainable Use of Resources for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Smart Manufacturing, Marine & Maritime Technology, Aviation and Aerospace, and Future Digital Technologies.
The scheme aims to help enterprises evaluate innovative business ideas through feasibility studies that provide clear conclusions on business viability, identify the resources needed to implement the project, and assess its prospects for success. It also supports investment in research and innovation during the 2021–2027 programming period by fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship in line with Malta’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) 2021–2027.
The maximum grant available under this scheme is €100,000 per undertaking. If an undertaking is approved for more than one application, the combined value of all approved grants cannot exceed €100,000. Eligible expenditure covers the costs of carrying out the feasibility study, provided the expenditure is approved in the Grant Agreement, incurred during the specified project period, and the beneficiary achieves the agreed project indicators.
The scheme does not support expenditure related to equipment and building repairs or maintenance, taxes including VAT, insurance, training, contingencies, dividends, royalties, interest charges, in-kind contributions, finance lease service charges, used or refurbished equipment, deferred payment costs, litigation expenses, fines, gifts, donations, entertainment, foreign exchange losses, bank charges, commissions, or projects already funded under other European Union funding programmes.
The scheme is open to Micro, Small, Medium-sized, and Small Mid-Cap enterprises engaged in an economic activity. Undertakings without a legal personality must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (CAP 16 of the Laws of Malta).
