Deadline Date: July 05, 2026
The Screen Tasmania seeks applications for its Project Development Grants program to support the growth of the Tasmanian screen production industry through structured development funding for film, television, documentary, animation, and digital screen content.
The program focuses on developing linear Tasmanian screen content, strengthening local storytelling, supporting Tasmanian creativity, increasing future production outcomes, and advancing projects toward securing market finance and production readiness through four funding categories including short-form series booster, intermediate stage funding, market-attached funding, and slate development support.
The Project Development Grants program is designed to assist productions that benefit the Tasmanian screen industry by providing targeted funding across different stages of development. It supports both live-action and animation projects for adults and children, including feature films, telemovies, television drama series and miniseries, factual and documentary projects, and short-form content created for online platforms. The program aims to increase work opportunities for Tasmanian screen practitioners while ensuring that local stories reach broader audiences.
Funding is delivered across four categories, including a short-form series booster grant of up to $25,000 that is non-recoupable and supports early development, scripting, proof of concept creation, and market engagement activities. Intermediate stage funding offers recoupable grants of up to $20,000 to assist projects in advancing to market-ready development with materials such as pitch documents, series bibles, and draft scripts.
Market-attached funding provides recoupable support of up to $30,000 for projects with confirmed marketplace involvement, focusing on further development, financing preparation, and production-related planning. Slate development funding also offers recoupable grants of up to $30,000 and is designed to support a collection of projects backed by marketplace investment.
Applicants must demonstrate Tasmanian creative involvement and control of copyright, with at least one key creative such as a writer, producer, or director connected to Tasmania. Projects are generally required to be beyond early-stage development, except in slate development cases. Market attachment must be evidenced for relevant funding categories, and projects previously declined may reapply only if significantly revised. Development support also includes access to experienced script editors or creative producers to strengthen project outcomes.
