The Global Cleantech Innovation Accelerator Programme Namibia supports early-stage cleantech startups and SMEs developing sustainable solutions for climate and environmental challenges.
The focus areas, of the programme include climate change mitigation, land degradation neutrality, green economic growth, renewable energy, energy efficiency technologies, sustainable agriculture, smart irrigation solutions, waste management, recycling innovations, land restoration, ecosystem rehabilitation technologies, water management, water conservation solutions, clean technology innovation, entrepreneurship development, gender inclusivity, green job creation, sustainable urban development, and strengthening the cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The programme is designed to support early-stage cleantech startups and SMEs, particularly those operating in informal settlements and peri-urban areas where innovative solutions can improve livelihoods, restore degraded lands, and strengthen environmental resilience.
Through a structured accelerator model, participants receive business development support, mentorship, access to finance, and technical capacity-building opportunities. The programme helps entrepreneurs develop scalable business models, attract investment, and strengthen their ability to deliver sustainable solutions.
In addition to enterprise support, the programme works to strengthen the national cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem by encouraging institutional collaboration, supporting policy engagement, and improving conditions for the adoption and growth of clean technologies.
The programme places a strong emphasis on gender inclusivity and aims to achieve at least 40 percent participation from women-led enterprises across its activities.
During its first accelerator cycle, the programme will support up to 50 enterprises over three years, with a focus on scalable solutions related to land degradation and climate change mitigation. Participating enterprises will also have opportunities to connect with the wider global GCIP network to support future regional and international expansion.
