Deadline Date: July 07, 2026
The President’s Fund for Creativity is offering applications to strengthen community well-being, inclusivity and cultural participation through collaborative artistic and creative engagement.
The focus areas of the programme include increased cultural participation across Malta and Gozo, improved engagement between artists and communities, greater diversity in cultural programming, more representative cultural expression reflecting Maltese society, and sustainable development through creative practices. It also prioritises community inclusion, participatory arts, social cohesion, cultural rights, and collaborative creation with marginalised and hardly reached groups.
It encourages initiatives that build trust, foster dialogue, and provide safe spaces for creative expression, particularly for disadvantaged or underrepresented groups. The fund also supports pilot initiatives as well as the development of previously tested community-based projects.
The funding supports collaborative arts-based practices that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and well-being while enabling access to cultural experiences for groups that are often excluded from mainstream participation. It also encourages projects that strengthen relationships between creative practitioners and communities while contributing to social development through cultural engagement.
The total session budget available under the programme is €150,000, with a maximum grant of €30,000 per project or programme, covering up to 80% of eligible costs depending on availability of funds. Projects are required to demonstrate clear benefits for marginalised or hardly reached communities and may run for a minimum duration of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months.
Eligible costs include artists’ fees, production and management expenses, rental of spaces, communication and outreach, travel, insurance, legal services, linguistic support, equipment (where necessary), and other direct or indirect costs related to project delivery. Ineligible costs include debt-related expenses, subsistence and hospitality, retroactive costs, and activities outside the cultural and creative scope.
Eligibility is open to creative practitioners, registered organisations, collectives, cooperatives, educational institutions, public institutions, voluntary organisations, and other eligible entities active in cultural or social development fields. Applicants must be based in Malta or hold valid Maltese residency or citizenship documentation, and individuals applying in a personal capacity are not permitted. Applications must also comply with requirements related to eligibility status, prior funding compliance, and proper registration where applicable.
