The Sustainable Development Awards 2026 is inviting nominations from individuals, communities, schools, businesses, researchers, journalists, artists, and organisations contributing to sustainable development and positive environmental and social impact.
The Sustainable Development Awards aim to identify and reward institutions and individuals that have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and excellence in environmentally friendly practices while encouraging the adoption of sustainability best practices. The programme supports initiatives in private sector sustainability, community-level natural resource management and utilization, research and development for sustainable development, youth action for sustainable development, artist-led sustainability initiatives, pioneering journalism in sustainable development, women and environment, sustainable schools, green financial services and institutions, sustainable mining and exploration activities, and thought leadership. The 2026 edition places a deliberate emphasis on Namibian youth as drivers of sustainable development.
Eligible nominees include individuals, communities, schools, businesses, researchers, journalists, artists, women’s groups, financial institutions, mining companies, and organizations operating in Namibia that have demonstrated contributions to sustainable development. The awards recognize achievements across the designated categories and encourage initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, innovation, community empowerment, sustainable resource management, environmental education, advocacy, and sustainable economic growth.
The Sustainable Development Awards provide recognition for outstanding achievements in sustainable development across the announced award categories.
Nominations will be considered within the framework of the established award categories. The announcement highlights leadership, innovation, environmental responsibility, community impact, and contributions to sustainable development as key areas of recognition.
