Deadline Date: October 06, 2026
The European Commission is seeking grant applications to support projects that modernise road transport infrastructure and advance digitalisation on the TEN-T network.
The focus areas of this call include deployment of new technologies and innovation, test beds and infrastructure for autonomous vehicles, commercial deployment of autonomous driving systems, establishment of control centres for remote supervision of highly automated vehicles, deployment of digital infrastructure for vehicle positioning and communication, interaction with emergency services, automatic transmission of driving data, recording of road events, modification of road infrastructure to support autonomous vehicles, use of EU harmonised digital infrastructure such as C-ROADS, and development of smart transport systems within the TEN-T network. The total funding available for this call is €20,000,000.
This call funds works related to the deployment of new technologies that support highly automated and autonomous vehicles on the road for real operation. The projects are intended to support the transition from mature technologies to full-scale deployment rather than research and innovation activities.
Projects may include the establishment of control centres equipped with IT systems for remote supervision of highly automated vehicles to provide support in complex or unexpected situations. The construction of physical buildings such as transport management centre structures is not supported.
The call also supports the deployment of digital infrastructure that enables accurate vehicle positioning, communication with surrounding infrastructure, and interaction with emergency services. It includes systems for automatic transmission of driving data and recording of events such as accidents or near-accidents. Where necessary, limited modifications to road infrastructure, such as extending merging lanes, may be supported if they are essential for autonomous vehicle deployment.
Applicants must explain how their projects use EU harmonised digital infrastructure and sovereign systems where relevant. Projects may complement initiatives funded under Horizon Europe and may be located on the core, extended core, or comprehensive TEN-T network, including urban nodes. Any infrastructure outside the TEN-T network must be justified in terms of its benefits to the TEN-T system.
Eligible applicants include public and private legal entities established in EU Member States, including overseas countries and territories, as well as countries associated with the CEF Programme.
