Deadline Date: October 06, 2026
The European Commission is inviting grant applications to support works projects to modernise maritime and inland port infrastructure on the TEN-T network and reduce transport emissions.
The focus areas of this call include modernisation of maritime transport infrastructure on the TEN-T network, reduction of environmental impact from transport, short sea shipping efficiency, greening of inland waterway transport, onshore power supply systems, shore-side battery charging systems, port electrification, vessel energy system retrofitting, hybrid and alternative fuel propulsion technologies, hydrogen and ammonia technologies, methanol and biomethane fuel systems, wind-assisted propulsion systems, and port-based renewable energy integration. The total funding available for this call is €200,000,000.
This call supports only works projects related to the deployment of onshore power supply and charging infrastructure in TEN-T maritime and inland ports in accordance with relevant EU regulations. It also supports the fitting or retrofitting of energy systems for inland waterway vessels and short sea shipping vessels, including ferries, using electric, hybrid, hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, biomethane, and other substitute energy sources, as well as wind-assisted propulsion systems.
Projects may include onshore power supply systems and shore-side battery charging systems for seagoing freight and passenger vessels, including tugboats and cruise vessels, as well as inland waterway vessels. These systems may be complemented by upgrades to electrical grids within ports where necessary to support their operation.
Works projects may also include on-site renewable energy generation such as photovoltaic systems and wind turbines, grid connections between ports and external networks, and shore-side energy storage systems in the form of batteries. These synergetic elements must primarily support onshore power supply and charging systems and may not exceed twenty percent of total eligible project costs.
All infrastructure supported under this call must be accessible to all operators on a non-discriminatory basis.
Eligible applicants include public and private legal entities established in EU Member States, including overseas countries and territories, as well as countries associated with the CEF Programme.
