Deadline Date: June 30, 2026
The Agribusiness Development Agency (ADA), a provincial public entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, is inviting applications from registered Black-owned agribusinesses operating within KwaZulu-Natal for project funding during the 2027/28 financial year.
The funding initiative aims to support the growth and development of sustainable commercial-scale agribusiness enterprises, contribute to national food security, create employment opportunities, promote transformation within the agribusiness sector, strengthen agribusiness capacity and experience, enhance market access, establish clear value chain linkages, encourage legal and regulatory compliance, support women, youth and people living with disabilities, and facilitate blended finance opportunities through partnerships with financial institutions and other funding sources.
Through this funding programme, ADA seeks to unlock opportunities within the agribusiness sector by supporting qualifying enterprises that demonstrate the potential to contribute to a strong, transformed, diversified, dynamic, competitive, and sustainable agribusiness industry in KwaZulu-Natal.
Applications are open to registered Black-owned agribusinesses operating within the province. Enterprises located in rural and poverty-stricken areas, as well as those led by women, youth, and people living with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to applicants that can demonstrate agribusiness capacity and experience, operate commercially with established market access and value chain connections, comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements including environmental and water-use regulations, and have access to blended finance through banks, development institutions, or their own financial contributions.
The programme excludes projects that have received funding from government departments or development organisations within the previous five years. Activities that have already been funded by a government or development organisation will not be considered for additional funding. Applications are also not permitted from ADA Board members, government employees, employees of state-owned entities, or their immediate family members, including spouses or partners, children, siblings, and parents.
