The Youth Empowerment Fund is currently accepting applications to support innovative, creative, and impactful ideas led by young people across Malawi.
The focus areas of this initiative include agriculture and agribusiness innovation, tourism and hospitality innovation, mining and natural resource management, and manufacturing and industrialization. It also prioritises youth-led enterprises, startups, social innovation, digital innovation, climate action, creative industries, and community-driven development aimed at economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
The initiative is implemented in Malawi and targets young people, youth groups, startups, and youth-led organisations engaged in innovative and entrepreneurial activities across key productive sectors.
The Youth Innovation Fund 2026 aims to promote youth participation in national development by supporting transformative ideas that contribute to economic diversification, self-reliance, and sustainable growth. It encourages innovation across sectors that are central to Malawi’s long-term development strategy.
The fund focuses on strengthening agriculture through climate-smart practices and agritech solutions, enhancing tourism through eco-tourism and digital platforms, improving mining through sustainable technologies and value addition, and advancing manufacturing through youth-led startups and industrial innovation.
Successful applicants will receive financial support, mentorship, capacity building, and networking opportunities to help scale their innovations and enterprises, enabling them to contribute effectively to Malawi’s economic transformation.
The expected outcome is increased youth participation in innovation-led development, improved job creation, strengthened entrepreneurship ecosystems, and enhanced sectoral growth across agriculture, tourism, mining, and manufacturing.
