Deadline Date: May 31, 2026
The Environment Grant Program is accepting applications to support activities that improve Newcastle’s environment through revegetation initiatives, greening streets, parks and open spaces and increasing pollinator habitat across the city.
The program focuses on expanding the urban forest, supporting revegetation initiatives, greening streets, parks and open spaces, and increasing pollinator habitat throughout the city.
Funding of $2,000 to $10,000 (excluding GST) is available per application for eligible projects that contribute to environmental improvement initiatives within the community.
Funding is limited to gatherings and activities that aim to build social connections and strengthen community belonging, inclusion, and participation. Eligible activities may include neighbourhood gatherings, community markets, support expos, and community-led or lived-experience events. However, commercial events are not supported through this program. In addition, activities that contravene the general eligibility requirements, as well as those intended to supplement, expand, or continue ongoing service delivery or cover general business operational costs, are considered ineligible for funding.
Ineligible expenses under this program include the purchase of capital items that are not directly related to the delivery of the activity, such as vehicles and office equipment. The funding also does not cover fees and charges associated with compliance or development applications payable to CN, as well as travel, accommodation, salaries, or private expenses. Additionally, the purchase of alcoholic beverages, along with general business overheads and operational expenses, is not eligible for support under the program.
Eligible applicants include legally constituted not-for-profit organisations, small businesses, voluntary run groups, and individuals auspiced by an eligible entity.
