Deadline Date: May 19, 2026
The European Commission is seeking applications to support the deployment of Clean Aviation aircraft concepts and technologies by forming a dedicated group of operators to assess operational implications and ensure seamless integration.
The initiative focuses on identifying operational gaps and risks, providing recommendations to the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking and project coordinators, and anticipating challenges to facilitate the deployment of innovative aircraft concepts and disruptive technologies in operations from 2035.
The expected outcome of this initiative is the creation of a collaborative group of operators tasked with evaluating the operational impact of Clean Aviation technologies. This group will identify potential gaps and risks, and deliver recommendations that guide the adoption and integration of new aircraft concepts into aviation operations, ensuring that emerging technologies are implemented effectively and safely.
Funding for the initiative totals €329,500,000, reflecting the scale and strategic importance of accelerating the adoption of sustainable aviation technologies. Eligible participants include any legal entity, regardless of location, including entities from non-associated third countries and international organizations, provided they meet the requirements outlined in the Horizon Europe Regulation and specific call conditions. Legal entities may be natural or legal persons recognized under national, EU, or international law, and may act in their own name, exercising rights and obligations accordingly.
This operational stakeholders’ group is a critical step in preparing the aviation sector for the integration of Clean Aviation technologies by 2035, enabling smoother deployment, risk mitigation, and alignment with the long-term objectives of sustainable aviation development across Europe.
