Deadline Date: April 22, 2026
The National Genomic Applications Partnership Program is requesting applications from Canadian for-profit enterprises to transform genomics research into commercial applications and drive inclusive innovation.
The program focuses on increasing Canadian private-sector investment in the commercialization of innovation derived from public R&D funding in genomics and biotechnology, stimulating technological innovation and implementation through cooperative R&D between research and receptors, enabling research investments that de-risk opportunities and secure follow-on funding from finance and industry, and fostering and encouraging participation in innovation and entrepreneurship by individuals from equity-deserving communities.
N-GAPP is designed to facilitate collaborations between industry partners and academic researchers, with optional support from additional collaborators or co-investigators. Each partner must bring essential expertise to the project and have clearly defined responsibilities, ensuring that research outputs can be translated into commercially viable applications. The program promotes inclusive innovation by encouraging participation from individuals belonging to equity-deserving communities, enhancing diversity in the genomics and biotechnology sector.
Funding through N-GAPP ranges from $300,000 to $2,000,000 contributed by Genome Canada, while the total project envelope may range between $900,000 and $6,000,000. Applicants can request up to one-third of the project budget from Genome Canada, and the maximum project term is two years. By providing financial and strategic support, N-GAPP aims to attract private-sector investment, reduce commercialization risks, and accelerate the development of genomics-based technologies that can benefit Canada’s economy and scientific ecosystem.
