The Entrepreneurship Training and Grant Programme is inviting applications to support individuals with a business idea or an existing small business operating in or intending to operate along the Kotu Stream area in the Gambia.
The programme focuses on entrepreneurship development, financial literacy improvement, grant support access for selected participants, and market linkage support, with priority sectors including market vendors, fish vendors, backyard garden enterprises, fashion businesses, and other related small-scale economic activities.
The programme targets 150 individuals who are interested in starting or strengthening their businesses within the specified area. It aims to equip participants with practical entrepreneurial knowledge and financial management skills that can help them sustain and grow their enterprises.
Participants will receive customized entrepreneurship training tailored to small business operations. They will also benefit from financial literacy training that helps them understand budgeting, savings, and responsible financial management, which are essential for running a successful enterprise.
Selected participants may gain access to grant support subject to applicable programme conditions. In addition to training and potential financial assistance, participants will receive market linkage support to help them connect their businesses to broader markets and opportunities. All selected applicants will be awarded a grant (USD 1,000-8,000).
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be Gambian nationals and must reside in or operate an existing business or economic activity along the Kotu Stream area, or intend to establish a business within the area. Applicants are also required to demonstrate a clear commitment to completing the full training programme and must operate or intend to operate within the eligible priority sectors such as market vending, fish vending, backyard gardening, fashion, or similar enterprises.
