The Dutch Film Fund offers contributions for the co-producers to realize high-quality international co-production film projects that strengthen artistic vision, creative exchange, and international visibility.
The focus of the scheme is international co-production, artistic and financial collaboration, high artistic and content quality, substantial creative and technical input from film professionals from the Netherlands, feature film, long animated film, documentary, professional expertise and creative exchange, and international visibility of Dutch film, film professionals, and the film industry. International co-production sharpens the creator’s artistic vision, provides a broader financial base for film projects, and promotes professional expertise and creative exchange. The artistic and financial collaboration has a positive impact on the international visibility of Dutch film, film professionals, and the film industry, and offers Dutch creators greater opportunities to break through in the international market.
The scheme is aimed at Dutch co-producers of Dutch minority film projects in the categories of feature film, long animated film, or documentary. Submitted film plans must be of high artistic and content quality and include substantial creative and technical input from film professionals based in the Netherlands.
For feature films and long animated films, projects with a budget of up to €3 million may request a maximum contribution of €250,000, while projects with a budget exceeding €3 million may request up to €450,000. For documentary projects, a maximum contribution of €70,000 can be requested.
Applications must be submitted by the Dutch minority co-producer representing a production company that is a legal entity established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland, and that continuously produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions. In addition, the producer must, as majority producer, have been primarily responsible for the realization of at least one feature film with a cinema release in the Netherlands for feature film or long animated film applications, or at least one long documentary with a cinema release in the Netherlands for documentary applications.
