The VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator is inviting applications to support innovators in developing and commercializing ocean data technologies that contribute to the U.S. blue economy.
The program focuses on ocean data technology development, commercialization of ocean solutions, adoption of innovative maritime technologies, blue economy growth, support for startups and innovators, technology readiness advancement, intellectual property development, business model development, technical development planning, personalized coaching, collaboration with NOAA researchers, academic and industry partnerships, and strengthening economic and societal benefits through ocean enterprise innovation.
The VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator is designed to help innovators across the United States transform early-stage ideas into viable ocean-based technologies and services. It supports individuals and teams working to address real-world challenges in ocean data and maritime innovation while contributing to national economic and societal goals.
The program provides participants with structured support through a combination of virtual and in-person learning experiences. Selected teams engage in intensive training designed to strengthen both technical and business capabilities, helping them prepare for venture development and commercialization pathways.
A key feature of the accelerator is its emphasis on collaboration with industry experts, academic partners, and researchers from organizations such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Participants benefit from mentorship, coaching, and access to a strong innovation network.
Stage 1 of the program includes seven weeks of virtual programming followed by a three-day in-person workshop. During this phase, participants receive support in technical development analysis, business model creation, and personalized coaching aimed at advancing their innovation readiness.
The program also provides $15,000 in Technology Development and Commercialization awards to support early-stage development activities. It is intended for innovators and startups operating at Technology Readiness Level 3 or above, particularly those with proof-of-concept technologies and potential for intellectual property development.
Eligibility is limited to U.S.-based teams, including startups incorporated in the United States and teams affiliated with U.S. colleges or universities. The program does not accept applications from international institutions or startups.
