Deadline Date: July 02, 2026
The “la Caixa” Foundation has launched the Call for Social Projects Balearic Islands 2026 to support initiatives that improve the quality of life of people experiencing social vulnerability, promote equal opportunities, and strengthen social cohesion across the Balearic Islands.
The call focuses on older people; people with disabilities, mental disorders, or illness; and people experiencing poverty and social exclusion. It also supports cross-cutting actions related to social and employment integration, educational opportunities for equity, access to temporary residential resources, intercultural coexistence and social cohesion, promotion and protection of health and mental health, prevention of violence and addictions, and culture as a driver for social transformation. Within the area of older people, priority is given to actions that promote decision-making and self-governance, foster meaningful personal relationships and prevent unwanted loneliness and social isolation, and detect and address situations of special vulnerability.
This call is open to non-profit organizations and social economy entities whose primary objective is social cohesion or social and cultural interest, as stated in their statutes. Eligible entities must be registered in the corresponding administrative register and have their headquarters in the Balearic Islands. Public administrations are not eligible to apply.
The initiative seeks to support projects that address situations of vulnerability and multiple vulnerability, contributing to a more just, inclusive, equitable, and supportive society. The program complements the social initiatives developed by the “la Caixa” Foundation through its various social programs and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
Within the area dedicated to older people, projects are encouraged to improve quality of life, reduce inequality, strengthen care and support systems, and promote active participation in society. The call welcomes initiatives that encourage autonomy, empowerment, intergenerational collaboration, social engagement, and community connections. It also supports actions that prevent frailty, promote cognitive and functional independence, and improve living conditions in homes, residential centers, and community environments.
Projects may request funding of up to €50,000 for activities lasting up to 12 months. The requested grant amount cannot exceed 75 percent of the total project cost, requiring applicants to contribute at least 25 percent through their own resources or third-party funding. For corporate foundations, public sector foundations, and employee foundations, the grant may cover up to 50 percent of project costs, with the remaining amount provided by the applicant or other funding sources.
