The Business Incubation Program is inviting applications to support early-stage tech founders in Africa in building scalable and investment-ready ventures through funding, mentorship, and business development support.
The focus areas, include technology entrepreneurship, startup incubation, scalable tech solutions, business growth, product development, market validation, investor readiness, revenue generation, inclusive impact, entrepreneurship networks, venture capital connections, advisory support, compliance, growth strategy, profitability, scalability, and innovation across African markets.
The programme is a 12-month incubation opportunity designed for startups that already have a proof-of-concept prototype and preliminary market validation. The initiative aims to help participating ventures develop revenue-generating products capable of attracting future investment and competing in African and global markets.
Selected startups will receive USD 50,000 in seed funding from CMU-Africa. Participants will also benefit from 12 months of targeted advisory support from experienced practitioners in areas such as product development, growth, compliance, and investment readiness.
The programme additionally provides USD 5,000 in AWS credits and USD 1,500 in Amazon technical support. Startups will gain opportunities to connect with angel investors, venture capital firms, entrepreneurship networks, and industry partners across Africa and Pittsburgh.
Participants will also have access to CMU-Africa’s partner ecosystem and global entrepreneurship connections through the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship in Pittsburgh.
Eligible startups must be less than two years old and developing scalable, technology-enabled solutions addressing clearly defined market opportunities in Africa. Applicants are required to demonstrate strong market understanding, a credible business model, and early product validation.
The programme is open to registered companies led by at least two committed co-founders who can dedicate full-time effort to the venture and incubation activities.
