The Results-Based Finance Programme is seeking applications to support companies delivering clean energy, e-mobility, and circular economy solutions across Kenya.
The focus areas of the programme include increasing access to modern energy services for underserved communities, expanding access to productive use of energy solutions for MSMEs and agricultural value chains, accelerating reliable and affordable e-mobility services, transforming the circular economy through ecosystem restoration, waste recycling, reuse, value reduction, resource optimization, continuous resource circulation, and promoting green transition technologies. The technology scope includes stand-alone solar systems, solar pumping solutions, larger pumping solutions for communities and aggregators, solar refrigerators, cold storage, solar driers, e-mobility charging infrastructure, and other pre-agreed renewable energy solutions within the end-user price limit.
The programme supports companies with the greatest potential for impact and transformation anywhere in Kenya. It is technology agnostic and open to companies from all regions of the country that meet the eligibility and selection criteria.
The programme will run for four years, from the first quarter of 2025 to the fourth quarter of 2028.
Applicants are required to provide matching funds to demonstrate commercial viability and a willingness to share project risk. The funding ratio is 1 from AECF to 0.4 from the applicant based on the application value.
Financial contributions may be provided in cash or through a combination of cash and in-kind contributions. In-kind contributions must not exceed 25% of the applicant’s overall contribution.
