AlphaLab Health Accelerator Program for Healthcare Startups

The networks will surround you with access to critical knowledge and resources to help you grow quickly. Even better, all of these offerings are located in Pittsburgh—a life sciences ecosystem of cutting-edge technologies.

AlphaLab Health is a collaboration between Innovation Works and Allegheny Health Network.

What they offer?

• They support companies by providing these key resources:
  • Investment
    • AlphaLab Health (via IW and AHN) will invest up to $100,000 in the form of a convertible note and receive up to 2% common stock equity from participating companies.
    • Qualifying alumni companies have the opportunity to raise additional capital from the Innovation Works Seed Fund after graduating from the accelerator.
  • Education
    • They leverage AHN’ and Highmark’s position as one of the largest integrated healthcare delivery and finance systems in the country to provide unique domain expertise in healthcare economics.
    • The SMEs guide teh companies via lectures, office hours, workshops, and panels as they develop their businesses and strive towards their milestones.
  • Clinical Mentorship
    • The partnership with AHN provides a unique opportunity to engage and work with relevant clinicians and administrations that provide the voice of the customer.
    • From the outset of the program, the goal is to identify and connect your company with enthusiastic clinical partners to help guide your productization.
  • Network Access
    • AlphaLab Health and IW have an extensive network of investors, serial entrepreneurs, corporate partners, and vetted vendors.
    • Many of the companies find their first investors, customers, suppliers, advisors, and other partners through introductions from the network.
  • Space
    • They offer private office space and BSL-1 equipped laboratories in the newly renovated home at AGH Suburban Campus in Bellevue.
    • The space also features conference rooms, a full kitchen, lounge, and class room.
    • Additional amenities include sub-zero freezers, balances, autoclaves, mass spectrometry, and more.
