The Estonian Center for International Development Cooperation (ESTDEV) is accepting submissions for the Financing Development Cooperation Projects to support the development of Kenya, Namibia, Botswana and Uganda by focusing on innovation in the implementation of the twin revolution, creating systemic changes in the education system and developing digital skills and a sustainable and systemic digital revolution in cooperation with the public and private sector.
The implemented activities must help achieve the goals of sustainable development throughout, connect with the priorities and development plans of partner countries, the priorities of Estonia’s international development cooperation, and create synergies with ongoing major projects.
Priorities Topics and Objectives
- In justified cases, a regional approach involving two or more of the aforementioned countries is allowed. The application round supports activities that correspond to the following priority topics and objectives:
- Innovation ecosystem: The aim is to launch and implement activities in cooperation between organizations in Estonia and target countries to support the implementation of the green and digital revolution, including, for example, encouraging the initiation of the creation of innovative solutions by local entrepreneurs; digitization of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises; activities that promote the cooperation of start-ups, public sector organizations and investors and strengthening of networks.
- Future skills and education system: The aim is to support the implementation of educational reforms launched in the target countries and the acquisition of future skills, including, for example, activities with a significant impact on the transition to competency-based curriculum development; developing skills that support the employment and competitiveness of young people and women.
- Human-centered digital service offering and cyber intelligence: The goal is to support the implementation of good governance through human-centered e-solutions, the smart use of artificial intelligence, and the promotion of cyber resilience in target countries, including, for example, the development of digital capabilities at the management level of the public sector and related organizations; supporting the development of cyber capabilities necessary for the secure operation of digital services.
Funding Information
- The maximum amount of support requested is 100,000 euros per application.
Eligibility Criteria
- The application round supports projects whose eligibility period is between 1 March 2024 and 31 December 2025. Projects must start no later than 1 July 2024.
- Applicant can submit one application per round.
- This requirement does not apply to higher education institutions. The applicant must indicate in the application which topic the project contributes to.
