The PIER71 Smart Port Challenge is now accepting applications to support startups developing innovative solutions for the maritime sector.
The challenge focuses on Maritime Green Technologies, Next Generation Port, Smart Shipping, and Digitalisation including AI, Cloud, and Cybersecurity, aiming to foster sustainable and future-ready innovation within the sector.
The PIER71 Smart Port Challenge provides startups with opportunities to access maritime corporates, venture capitalists, domain experts, and PIER71 partners and alumni. Participants can attend workshops and masterclasses conducted by industry veterans, address real-world maritime challenges, and identify potential customers. Eligible startups can apply for grants of up to $100,000 for proof-of-concept or pilot projects and up to $250,000 for new product development. Additional support includes product and business model validation, mentoring and coaching, cash prizes for top teams, sponsored residency at PIER71’s Landing Pad, and branding and media exposure.
To participate, startups must have at least a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and be incorporated. The program offers two tracks, Start-ups and Scale-ups, with placement based on headcount, revenue, years in operation, and funding stage.
