The Alberta Manufacturing Productivity Grant (AMPG), funded by the Government of Alberta, supports small- and medium-sized manufacturers in enhancing productivity and competitiveness through technology adoption.
The program focuses on improving operations, investing in advanced manufacturing technologies, automating production processes, increasing competitiveness in domestic and international markets, and strengthening long-term productivity within the manufacturing sector.
The Alberta Manufacturing Productivity Grant is designed to help manufacturers modernize their operations in an increasingly competitive global economy. By encouraging the adoption of advanced technologies, the initiative aims to ensure that businesses remain efficient, innovative, and capable of meeting evolving market demands. The program recognizes that productivity improvements are essential for sustaining growth and maintaining a strong manufacturing base.
Eligible companies can access both an assessment of the viability of their chosen technology and financial support of up to $30,000 in matching funding. This support is intended to reduce the financial burden associated with adopting new technologies, which many manufacturers have identified as a key barrier to innovation.
To qualify, companies must be Alberta-based manufacturers involved in production or related activities such as processing, fabricating, or refining. They must have been incorporated for at least two years, demonstrate financial stability, and employ between 5 and 750 full-time employees within the province. The investment must also be directed toward manufacturing operations located in Alberta.
The funding supports investments in long-term production assets and technologies that enhance capacity and efficiency. Eligible technologies include equipment, robotics, automation systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced networks, and Internet of Things solutions. However, the program does not cover investments in ERP systems or general training.
