Deadline Date: September 10, 2026
The Water Wise Societies pre-studies call under Impact Innovation 2026 invites stakeholders in Sweden’s water system to develop and test innovative solutions in collaboration with potential customers to support the mission of achieving sustainable water for all by 2050.
Focus areas, objectives, priorities and themes of this initiative include advancing the mission of Sustainable Water for All by 2050, exploring and assessing the feasibility and potential of innovative water-related solutions, strengthening collaboration between solution providers and potential customers, and contributing to the goals and tasks defined within the Water Wise Societies programme covering the full water system from source to coast.
This initiative is designed to support early-stage feasibility studies where applicants can jointly investigate how new ideas can be developed into practical and implementable solutions. The emphasis is on collaboration with a potential customer who actively participates in the project, ensuring that the solution is grounded in real-world needs and conditions.
Projects funded under this call are expected to run for a maximum of 11 months, providing time to test assumptions, evaluate technical and practical feasibility, and understand pathways for implementation. Funding of up to SEK 500 000 is available per project, with a maximum aid intensity of 70 percent.
Eligible applicants include companies, research institutes, and universities or colleges operating within the water system from source to coast. The structure encourages cross-sector collaboration, ensuring that innovations are not only technically viable but also relevant to end users and stakeholders who will ultimately adopt or benefit from them.
Through this call, Impact Innovation—supported by the Swedish Energy Agency, Formas, and Vinnova—aims to accelerate the development of impactful water solutions that can contribute to long-term sustainability and resilience in Sweden’s water management system.
