The Green LEAP Small Business Grants provide financial support to small businesses in Horsham District to help them implement climate-friendly projects that improve sustainability and support long-term environmental goals.
Focus areas include climate-friendly business project ideas, achievement of climate ambitions, carbon calculations, detailed evidence of energy savings, infrastructure requirements for project delivery, and initiatives such as switching to LED lighting, reducing water consumption, creating space for nature at workplaces, improving insulation, adopting renewable energy solutions, using sustainable products and packaging, enhancing waste reduction and recycling systems, and installing electric vehicle charging points.
The Green LEAP grants offer funding of up to £5,000 to support start-ups and small businesses in implementing projects that contribute to reducing environmental impact. These grants are intended to help businesses future-proof their operations while advancing their climate ambitions through practical and measurable improvements.
To be eligible for the grant, businesses must have a climate-friendly project idea and be able to demonstrate how it will support their climate objectives. Applicants must be registered with Companies House or HMRC, employ fewer than 20 full-time equivalent staff, be located within Horsham District, and be able to provide at least 25% match funding towards the total project cost.
Eligible projects can include improvements such as energy-efficient lighting upgrades, water-saving measures, installation of renewable energy systems, sustainable waste management solutions, and the introduction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Applicants are expected to clearly demonstrate how their chosen project will result in environmental benefits and contribute to broader sustainability goals.
