IOM is launching a call for grant application to support sustainable business opportunities for young people and women through the expansion of existing small enterprises in The Gambia.
IOM intends to provide small business grants and training opportunities to micro and small enterprises.
The project is articulated around two main components, an informative component and an empowerment component. The empowerment component of the project will address some of the drivers of irregular migration, including the lack of employment, the low-income and poverty.
Objectives
- The global objective of the call is to help the selected micro enterprises in The Gambia to reinforce their performance and ensure sustainability through capacity to innovate, to support regional development and to create jobs for young people and women in their communities.
- This Call is addressed to very small enterprises who would operating in different. By doing so, the support provided is expected to result in:
- increased economic opportunities and jobs for young people and women
- increased project opportunities operating in the regional priorities set
- enhanced innovative interventions and social impact on the communities
Eligibility Criteria
This call for proposals is open to micro and small enterprises that meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a Gambian or migrant or refugee in a regular situation between 18 and 35 years living in The Gambia.
- Must have an existing business or willing to formalize his/her business.
- The business must be a small and/or medium enterprise with at least 1 employee.
- The business must be operating in The Gambia.
- Applicant’s business ideas/enterprise must align with national development priorities.
- The business should have potential to employ one-two individuals.
