Organised by Dacorum Borough Council and supported by local sponsors, Dacorum’s Den is a business grant scheme, based on the popular TV show Dragons’ Den, which gives budding local entrepreneurs the chance to apply for up to £1,000 to grow and develop a business idea.
All businesses applying to Dacorum’s Den will have the opportunity to meet with a member of the Economic Development team to receive business support, regardless of the outcome of their application. Winners will also receive free business coaching from ActionCoach.
This scheme is open to all individuals and businesses in Dacorum who have:
- fewer than 10 employees and under £500,000 turnover
- have a great business idea
- are keen to expand their business in Dacorum.
Funding Information
The grant amount requested may not exceed £1,000.
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must:
- Be either:
- People wishing to start their business within Dacorum..
- Organisations already based in Dacorum.
- Be aged 18 or over and may be required to produce evidence of identity and age.
- Applications will only be accepted from organisations with fewer than 10 employees.
- Applicant’s turnover must be less than £500,000 per annum.
- Businesses and/or individuals that have previously won a grant in any capacity cannot apply.
- Images and reference to website may be included.
- Entries which are illegible or incomplete will be invalid.
- By entering, organisations agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- The judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Businesses must demonstrate how the grant will make a difference to their business.
- Successful applications will be promoted on Dacorum Borough Council’s websites and applicants must be prepared to participate in other publicity if required, including events.
- Successful applicants for an award will need to sign and accept a legal agreement setting out terms and conditions and provide a project delivery report within 12 months of receipt of the funds with corresponding financial documentation showing that the funding was used within the time frame stipulated in the award and that the funding was used for the purpose agreed.
- In the event of a grant being awarded, it will be paid 28 days from receipt of invoice.
- Dacorum Borough Council may request further evidence of any applicants’ eligibility following Council qualification checks.
