CSOs/NGOs in the Northern Region are invited to submit proposals for empowering rural women entrepreneurs in Northern Montenegro: enhancing business skills, green innovations, and access to finance for sustainable development.
Scope of the Project
- The UN Joint Programme (UNJP) aims to empower rural women in Montenegro’s northern municipalities by enhancing their business development knowledge, green innovation skills, and access to financing. Informed by the Country Gender Assessment (CGA), the project focuses on creating networking and learning opportunities, fostering a collaborative environment for rural women entrepreneurs, rural women working in agriculture and rural women in tourism. Prioritizing green agricultural production and rural tourism, the project seeks to uplift the socio-economic status of Berane, Bijelo Polje, and Plav.
- The strategy is built around three interlinked components. Component 1 addresses the lack of data on rural women by facilitating the creation of Montenegro’s inaugural CGA. This will inform policy-making, institutional budgeting, and planning processes, creating a supportive environment for rural enterprises, associations, and networks. Component 2 will develop key advocacy messages to o bring together women-led initiatives and SMEs for knowledge exchange, bringing together women-led initiatives and SMEs for knowledge exchange. Component 3 will strengthen the country’s entrepreneurship climate and agribusiness industry by improving business, marketing, and branding skills of women rural entrepreneurs, enhancing their eligibility for funding sources. By implementing these components, the United Nations Joint Programme aims to achieve a transformative impact on rural women and their communities.
- In line with the of Project goals, the call for proposals will contribute to empowering rural women in northern Montenegro. This involves enhancing their business development knowledge, green innovation skills, and identifying sources of financing. Furthermore, the initiative will to create opportunities for networking and learning, fostering a collaborative environment for rural women entrepreneurs. By focusing on green agricultural production and rural tourism, the project with its activities will uplift the socio-economic status of women in Berane, Bijelo Polje, and Plav.
- In line with the abovesaid, the Call invites proposals that can contribute to this objective by providing targeted support services, capacity building, and resource mobilization to reinforce the resilience and economic empowerment of rural women.

- Total eligible amount of funding under this Call will be around 20.000,00 EUR.

- From July 2024 to December 2024 (tentatively)
Who can apply?
- CSOs/NGOs, CSOs and NGOs networks and platforms that have specialized knowledge, expertise, background and track record of working in women’s economic empowerment, gender equality, gender mainstreaming, women’s human rights and entrepreneurship and business development and mentorship, financial consulting, accounting supporting.
