The Victorian Primary Producer Bushfire Recovery Grants is offering to support primary producers in Victoria affected by bushfires through financial assistance for recovery, clean-up, and reinstatement of damaged agricultural operations.
The focus areas, of the program include bushfire recovery support for primary production enterprises, clean-up and reinstatement of damaged agricultural operations, financial assistance for safety inspections and repair work, equipment hire and purchase for recovery, debris removal and livestock disposal, and support for restoring essential farming operations.
The program is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements and provides grants of up to $75,000 to eligible primary producers whose enterprises have suffered direct bushfire damage within defined disaster areas across multiple Victorian Local Government Areas.
The grant funding is structured in two tiers. An initial Tier 1 payment of up to $10,000 is available to support immediate recovery needs, requiring evidence of direct damage such as photographs, quotations, or advisory reports, while allowing applicants to claim without submitting tax invoices or receipts at the application stage, provided proof of expenditure is retained. The Tier 2 payment of up to $65,000 supports further recovery work and requires full evidence of payment, including tax invoices and official receipts, for reimbursement. Applicants may submit up to three claims to access the full grant amount, with additional claims considered on a case-by-case basis.
Eligible activities under the program include engaging tradespeople for safety inspections, hiring or purchasing equipment and materials to clean and restore properties, acquiring essential operational equipment such as pumps and generators, and removing and disposing of damaged assets, debris, and affected livestock. A full list of eligible activities is detailed in the official program guidelines.
