Deadline Date: September 22, 2026
The European Commission supports initiatives to strengthen environmental governance and promote a sustainable, circular, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient economy in line with the European Green Deal.
The programme focuses on activities in support of public administrations’ decision-making and voluntary approaches for the public and private sector, environmental compliance assurance and access to justice, behavioural change and awareness-raising initiatives, and enabling actions for the replication and upscaling of proven environmental solutions.
The call aims to strengthen the capacity of public administrations to manage, monitor, and assess complex environmental initiatives while promoting collaboration across institutional levels and with private entities. It emphasizes reducing administrative burden, improving policy coherence, and enhancing environmental outcomes in line with sustainable development goals.
Projects may support the development and implementation of plans, programmes, and strategies such as air quality plans, sustainable urban mobility plans, river basin management measures, waste management programmes, circular economy strategies, plastics action plans, and sustainable development roadmaps. Additionally, proposals can address EU-level decisions related to industrial emissions, waste management, and water pollution.
The initiative also encourages behavioural change and awareness-raising efforts that foster public and private sector engagement in environmental protection, alongside actions that facilitate scaling up successful environmental solutions for broader impact.
The estimated available call budget is EUR 85,500,000, of which EUR 6,500,000 is allocated to the LIFE-2026-SAP-ENV-GOV — Environment Governance topic.
Applicants must be legal entities established in eligible countries, including EU Member States and associated countries, with the project coordinator based in an eligible country.
