The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is accepting applications for its Green Business Incentive Scheme to provide financial incentives to small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in the city.
The Scheme will provide financial incentive to SMEs in the city to invest in:
- renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable transport technologies and measures that help reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions
- on-site plantings and water-efficient irrigation systems that help reduce urban heat and increase their city’s tree canopy
- waste management and circular economy initiatives
- other innovative proposals that align with aim of the scheme.
By getting involved SMEs can reduce their operating costs and improve the value of their brand through better sustainability performance. Additionally, landlords can potentially increase the value and rentability of their commercial property.

Funding Information
- Any individual small to medium sized business (SME) can apply for up to $10,000 in funding in a single application across the mentioned themes, per financial year. Applicants can apply for both “financial” and/or “In-kind” contributions (such as project management time by SME staff) as part of contribution.
- Applicants can apply for up to maximum of 50% of cost for the following:
- Solar Photovoltaic: (up to $5,000)
- Energy Storage: (up to $5,000)
- Appliance Electrification: (up to $1000)
- Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Planning: (up to $3,000)
- Water Savings: (up to $3,000)
- Greening: (up to $3,000)
- Zero Emission Transport/Plant: (up to $2,000)
- Other: (up to $2,000)
- Applicants can also apply for up to 80% of cost for the following, provided it uses preferred energy and waste auditor consultants included on the PAE panel of pre-approved auditors:
- Energy and Waste Efficiency: (up to $3,000).
Eligibility Criteria
- The scheme is open to small medium enterprises in the City of PAE that meet the following eligibility criteria:
- must operate a for-profit business located within the City of PAE.
- are a legal entity with an active ABN.
- have 200 or fewer full-time equivalent employees (small to medium enterprises).
- any necessary approvals have been granted from property owners (where relevant).
- any necessary development approvals have been secured if required.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Grants will not be provided for:
- Not-for-Profit, properly constituted and incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act (1985).
- Retrospective payments or budget deficit payments.
- Activities not completed within the City of PAE.
- Works undertaken on residential properties (including home based businesses).
- Initiatives associated with City of PAE’s leased buildings and land.
- Applications clearly intended to be supported through any of the City of PAE’s other grant programs.
- Businesses that have not provided a satisfactory acquittal for any previous funding received from the City of PAE.
- Businesses with outstanding debts to the City of PAE.
- Elected Members and employees of the City of PAE are not eligible to apply for any grant programs offered by the City of PAE.
- Education and government institutions, and political organisations.
