The New Venture Grants Program has been established to provide financial assistance to entrepreneurs and start-ups seeking to establish or expand their operations within Kimba.
Aims
- This initiative aims to encourage innovation, diversify the local economy, and fill identified service gaps to enhance the community’s economic resilience.
Funding Information
- A total pool of $10,000 has been allocated, with individual grants of up to $10,000 available, with an organisation eligible to receive only one grant per annual funding round. The Grant does not include GST and will not cover GST expenses.
- Project Completion: All successful projects must be completed by 30 June 2026.
Eligible Projects
- Projects must focus on enhancing a business’s digital presence and market reach. Examples include:
- Establishing a new business in Kimba that addresses a local market gap
- Expanding an existing business with a new product line, service, or operational model
- Investment in essential equipment, technology, or infrastructure to support business
- operations Fit-out costs for a new commercial space or improvements to an existing one
- Marketing and branding initiatives to establish the business in the local and regional markets
- Business innovation projects that contribute to economic diversification
Ineligible Projects
- The following projects have been deemed ineligible to access the Small Business Grant Grant funding:
- Businesses operating outside the District Council of Kimba
- Projects that have already commenced prior to grant approval
- General operating expenses such as rent, utilities, and salaries
- Political, fundraising, or sponsorship activities
- Academic or conference-related expenses
- Interstate or overseas travel
Eligibility Criteria
- Businesses must fulfil the following conditions to be eligible for funding:
- Be establishing a new business or significantly expanding an existing business in Kimba
- Hold a current Australian Business Number (ABN) or be in the process of obtaining one
- Demonstrate how the business aligns with the needs of the Kimba market and contributes to economic growth
- Provide a clear business plan outlining objectives, market research, financial projections, and growth strategy
- Hold all appropriate permits and licences, including building, planning, health, and any other statutory requirements
- Be up to date with Council rates or have a payment plan in place (if applicable)
- Hold current public liability insurance and provide evidence of insurance
- Demonstrate financial commitment to the venture by contributing at least 50% of the total project cost through personal investment, in-kind contributions, or other funding sources.
