What is the Black Business Fund?
- With costs rising, many food and drink businesses are under pressure, and Black-owned businesses face particular challenges.
- NatWest has highlighted the significant barriers Black-owned businesses encounter when trying to access finance. Be Inclusive Hospitality has found that Black workers are most likely to highlight ethnicity as a factor in hindering their career progression.
Who is the support for?
- The Black Business Fund will distribute £250,000 to Black-owned restaurants that need extra financial support. Twenty-five restaurants will each receive £10,000 to help boost their businesses.

- The course covers everything from making sales and accessing finance to creating a brand and building a motivated team.
Who can apply?
- To be eligible for the competition, a food business must:
- be Black-owned
- have been trading for at least 18 months
- have fewer than five locations
- It doesn’t matter if you’ve applied previously to the Black Business Fund, you can apply again in 2023.
- You can spend the grant on professional services and/or equipment that will help your business grow.
