Deadline Date: June 11, 2026
The PRIMA Programme has launched a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) to strengthen and scale the Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Community of Practice for improved cross-sectoral governance and policy integration.
This call focuses on consolidating and institutionalising the Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Community of Practice, strengthening coordinated governance across land, water, energy, food, and ecosystems, promoting cross-sectoral dialogue and joint planning, integrating Nexus principles into policies and strategies, supporting alignment with European water, soil, ocean, and agriculture frameworks, enhancing knowledge-sharing and capacity-building, and facilitating the replication and scaling of Best Management Practices across Mediterranean contexts.
The action aims to build on the foundations established by the WEFE4MED project by expanding a structured and sustainable Community of Practice that supports collaborative learning and policy engagement across sectors. It will strengthen governance mechanisms and enable stakeholders to work together more effectively across interconnected natural resource systems, including coastal and land-based interactions.
A key component of the initiative is the identification and networking of demonstration cases that reflect practical, financially viable, and adaptable WEFE Nexus solutions. These cases will serve as learning models, helping to generate transferable knowledge and practical tools that can support replication in different socio-economic and territorial settings.
The project will also prioritise the development of structured peer-learning and capacity-building programmes to enhance collaboration among diverse stakeholders such as public authorities, basin organisations, private sector actors, and civil society. By facilitating continuous exchange and co-development, the initiative will strengthen institutional capacities and improve decision-making processes.
In addition, the CSA will support the creation and maintenance of a digital platform that enables knowledge sharing, collaboration, and access to curated resources, ensuring that the Community of Practice functions as a dynamic and evolving network. It will also provide advisory support to public authorities to help integrate Nexus approaches into planning and governance frameworks.
To ensure long-term sustainability, the project will develop a roadmap for institutional anchoring, identifying potential host organisations and funding pathways to maintain the Community of Practice beyond the project duration. The consortium is expected to be small and agile, with strong expertise in facilitating participatory processes and managing science–policy interfaces.
With a total indicative budget of EUR 1.05 million, the call opened on 20 March 2026 and will accept Stage 1 submissions until 11 June 2026. Eligible applicants include legal entities from PRIMA participating countries across Europe, the Mediterranean, and associated regions.
