Deadline Date: September 22, 2026
The European Commission is inviting applications to support climate change mitigation projects aimed at achieving the European Union’s emissions reduction targets under its climate policy framework.
The programme focuses on supporting the European Green Deal by aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, through actions such as managing ozone-depleting substances, promoting zero-emission and low-carbon transport, expanding renewable energy and energy efficiency, reducing industrial and waste-related emissions, enhancing carbon storage in land and coastal ecosystems, and advancing carbon capture and removal technologies.
The LIFE-2026-SAP-CLIMA-CCM call under LIFE Project Grants provides a total funding of €28,000,000.00 to support these initiatives. The expected outcome is the efficient delivery of quantified objectives by the end of each project, ensuring measurable contributions to climate mitigation efforts.
Eligible applicants must be legal entities, either public or private bodies, established in eligible countries including EU Member States, overseas countries and territories, and listed EEA countries or those associated with the LIFE Programme. The project coordinator must be established in an eligible country. Entities must register in the Participant Register prior to submission and undergo validation by the Central Validation Service, providing documentation of legal status and origin.
Participation is also open to international organisations without restriction on eligible countries. Entities without legal personality may exceptionally participate if their representatives can undertake legal obligations and ensure protection of EU financial interests. Associations or groupings may apply as sole beneficiaries or without legal personality, but if members implement the action, they must also participate to ensure cost eligibility.
Natural persons are not eligible except for self-employed individuals where no separate legal personality exists. EU bodies, except the European Commission Joint Research Centre, are not permitted to participate in the consortium. Entities from non-listed countries may be exceptionally eligible if deemed essential for the action’s implementation. Entities subject to EU restrictive measures or conditionality regulations are not eligible to participate in any role, including beneficiaries, affiliated entities, subcontractors, or third parties receiving financial support.
