The Internationalisation Strategy for SMEs Grant offers to support small and medium-sized enterprises develop structured strategies for expanding into international markets through external professional services.
The focus areas of the program include international market research and analysis, feasibility assessment, market entry strategy development, marketing and sales strategy planning, financial and operational planning, risk analysis and mitigation, monitoring and evaluation, and improving SME competitiveness and sustainable growth through global expansion.
This scheme is designed to assist SMEs in developing comprehensive internationalisation strategies with the support of external consultancy services. It is structured in two parts, beginning with an assessment of global opportunities and market potential, followed by the development of a detailed strategy for selected target countries.
The first part focuses on analysing international opportunities, identifying suitable markets, and providing recommendations for market focus. The second part involves detailed planning for market entry, including operational, financial, and risk management strategies tailored to specific countries.
The scheme will remain operational until 31 December 2026, subject to the availability of funds. The total allocated budget is €500,000. The maximum grant is €20,000 per undertaking, with €10,000 available for Part 1 and a combined cap of €20,000 for both parts.
Eligibility is open to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activities, regardless of legal form. Applicants for Part 1 must demonstrate at least one year of active trading at the time of application and comply with applicable legal registration requirements.
