Deadline: 19 April 2024
Apply for the Startup World Cup, a global startup competition and conference organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures dedicated towards launching and advising the world’s next wave of leading entrepreneurs.
They are excited to support the global startup ecosystem and serve as the bridging platform for the different startup ecosystem contributors, including startups, investors, large corporations, government organizations, media, educational organizations, and more.
The competition comprises three phases: the regional finals (more than 70 regional competitions are scheduled all over the world); a semi-final and the Grand Finale, both held in San Francisco.
Through this event, EY Luxembourg and its collaboration partners aim to foster local innovation by bringing a distinguished startup ecosystem together, giving Luxembourg startups exposure and access to some of the top VCs and tech entrepreneurs in the world.
The Prize
- Startup World Cup will provide free event tickets to attend the Grand Finale for the winning startup from each regional event. Flights may be provided by the regional partners or local sponsors in each country, but Startup World Cup does not cover flight tickets to the Grand Finale in Silicon Valley.
- The winner of the Grand Finale will receive US $1,000,000 prize in investment. It will either be in exchange for a portion of equity related to the most recent round of funding or a convertible note, depending on the size of the company and how much funding the company has raised. The winner will also receive global exposure through media recognition from the journalists covering the event. Select sponsors will also be providing additional prizes to be announced. Additional prizes in past years included $30k in free legal services from Orrick and a Salesforce software package for the finalists, but the prize may vary from year to year.
Who can enter the Competition?
- They encourage startups in any domain, at any stage to apply. Please note that the startup must be a legal, registered entity (does not need to be registered in the US) not just an idea or an individual project.
- They accept applications regardless of your location. They encourage you to apply to the closest regional Competition.
- There are no restrictions on the amount of capital raised. They encourage everyone to apply.
- There is no application fee; however, some of the regionals have optional exhibition booths that can be purchased.
