SIIC announces 5G/6G Innovation Hackathon in India

Deadline Date: December 07, 2025

The SIIC Incubator at IIT Kanpur has announced its latest call — the 5G/6G Innovation Hackathon — offering a powerful opportunity for startups, researchers, students and tech innovators across India to help shape the next generation of wireless technology.

This programme invites individuals and teams to submit ideas and prototypes harnessing the transformative potential of 5G — and laying groundwork for 6G — in areas like smart health, agriculture, industrial automation, fintech, and other deep-tech applications.

Applicants can propose projects such as IoT-based precision agriculture, 5G-enabled remote healthcare, intelligent industrial systems with predictive maintenance, secure real-time communications for defense, or AI-native edge-network solutions aimed at future 6G standards. The hackathon also welcomes open innovation concepts beyond the specified themes, encouraging creative, boundary-pushing ideas that leverage 5G/6G capabilities in new ways. Whether you are an early-stage startup, a final-year student, or a research group, this hackathon offers a route to turn an idea into a working prototype.

Participants in the hackathon will benefit from a range of offerings designed to accelerate development and bring impactful solutions closer to market. The program provides access to advanced lab facilities, mentorship from industry leaders, domain experts, and researchers, support for prototype development, and opportunities for incubation and funding. It also offers networking channels that connect participants with government stakeholders and key industry partners. The hackathon will award ₹5,00,000 for the first position, ₹4,00,000 for the second, and ₹3,00,000 for the third, creating strong incentives for high-quality innovation.

For innovators interested in pushing the boundaries of connectivity and telecommunications, this hackathon presents more than a contest — it’s a launchpad. With a focus on deep-tech, real-world impact, and future-proof networks, the SIIC 5G/6G Innovation Hackathon positions participants to contribute to India’s digital future and potentially influence global standards. If you have a bold idea that leverages the power of high-bandwidth, low-latency networks, this could be the chance to bring it to life.
