Join the Bhashini – LEAP Hackathon and build AI-driven multilingual solutions for Indian’s law enforcement agencies.
It is organized by Bhashini & Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) in partnership with Police Academy & NCRB, this hackathon seeks AI-driven solutions for multilingual communication, transcription, and digital policing.
Stages & Rewards
- Screening Stage
- The intent of this stage is to invite bright minds to collaborate and participate to propose innovative and cutting-edge ideas for their solution using BHASHINI APIs for AI based translations models. The ideas submitted across problem statements will be evaluated and will be selected by a Selection Committee composed of experts from academia, industry, and government. Each selected team will get a chance to migrate to stage 2 to present the basic prototype.
- Prototype Stage
- Critical stage to build and enhance prototype features.
- Presentation: Teams present prototypes to a distinguished Jury to select the top five entries per problem statement.
- Reward: Each selected team receives INR 50,000 to build their solution following design principles and best practices.
- Support: Mentors may be assigned to help develop the best solution as per DIBD’s needs.
- Critical stage to build and enhance prototype features.
- Product Building
- Opportunity: Shortlisted teams from Stage-2 can deploy a fully functioning product at DIBD and present it to the Grand Jury.
- Evaluation: Solutions will be judged on Innovation, Replicability, Scalability, Usability, Ease of deployment, and Potential risks.
- Awards: One winning team per problem statement receives INR 10 lakhs; two runners-up per problem statement receive INR 1 lakh each.
- Contract: Winning teams get a 4-year contract to deploy their solution for Government use and an additional INR 10 lakhs for Innovation, operations, and maintenance. Marketing: All teams can market their product outside Union/State/UT Government Organizations by hosting it in a non-government environment.

Eligibility Criteria
- Participating teams must be an Indian company registered under Companies Act or comply with the definition of start-up as per the latest notification of DIPP
- If participating team is not yet registered, they are still allowed to participate, but are required to get registered if they get selected for the final submission.
