Deadline: 27 November 2023
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMoH) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) are looking to spotlight family planning innovative solutions in Nigeria developed by individuals, organizations, and institutions across all sectors.
For the context of this application, a family planning innovation is any approach, intervention, community-based program, media campaign or solution (both tech and non-tech-based) that aims to improve access, quality, and uptake of family planning services and contribute to better reproductive health outcomes.
Family planning is a fundamental human right that is essential for gender equality, women’s empowerment, and poverty reduction. However, in developing regions, including Nigeria, an estimated 257 million women who want to avoid pregnancy are not using safe and effective family planning methods. This threatens their ability to build a better future for themselves, and their families, take charge of their economic power, and contribute to Nigeria’s attainment of its human capital development goals.
This calls for the establishment of an ecosystem that encompasses increased visibility, funding avenues, and collaborative platforms, all dedicated to unlocking the untapped potential of transformative family planning innovations and facilitating their broader adoption for promoting family planning in Nigeria.
