Deadline Date: August 15, 2026
The 2026 Ford Philanthropy Fellowship is a fully funded program designed to equip local entrepreneurs and community leaders with the skills, resources, and networks needed to create lasting social impact.
The fellowship focuses on community development, education, disaster preparedness and response, entrepreneurship training, business acumen, financial skills, mentorship, access to financial tools, leadership development, and building resilient communities through collaborative learning and practical engagement.
The program offers participants an immersive learning experience through expert-led workshops that strengthen both business and leadership capabilities. Fellows engage in hands-on sessions guided by experienced entrepreneurs and practitioners, enabling them to sharpen their entrepreneurial mindset and enhance their ability to lead impactful ventures within their communities. Alongside this, participants gain access to financial tools and frameworks that help build a strong foundation for sustainable growth, supported by a network of specialists dedicated to entrepreneurial success.
A distinctive component of the fellowship is the Basecamp initiative, where participants design and lead a one-day community workshop aimed at supporting early-stage entrepreneurs. This experience not only reinforces leadership skills but also contributes to strengthening local entrepreneurial ecosystems. Fellows receive training and a stipend to successfully execute these workshops, ensuring meaningful community engagement.
In addition, the fellowship includes dedicated pitch training, allowing participants to develop and refine compelling presentations about their ventures. This culminates in a virtual summit where fellows showcase their progress and impact to mentors, community partners, potential investors, and the Ford Philanthropy team, opening doors to further opportunities and collaborations.
The program is intended for entrepreneurs and community leaders who have been operating for one to five years, have small teams, and can demonstrate measurable impact. Applicants are expected to have secured some form of funding and be ready to scale their initiatives sustainably. A strong commitment to participating in scheduled sessions and actively engaging with the fellowship community is essential.
Eligibility is particularly focused on individuals working in Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Brazil, and Vietnam, especially those contributing to regions associated with Ford plant cities or areas frequently affected by disasters. The fellowship seeks individuals who are deeply connected to their communities, possess firsthand understanding of local challenges, and are motivated to expand their impact through learning, collaboration, and leadership development.
