TAS 2026 Workforce Participation and Training Program (Australia)

Deadline Date: June 18, 2026

The Workforce Participation and Training Program 2026 provides funding to support initiatives that improve workforce participation outcomes for Tasmanians who are underrepresented in employment and training.

The program focuses on increasing participation of underrepresented Tasmanians in training and employment pathways, addressing identified vocational and non-vocational barriers to workforce participation for targeted cohorts, delivering services that improve work readiness, learning readiness and employment outcomes, demonstrating collaboration with employers, training providers and community partners, and achieving measurable outcomes aligned to employment participation pathways.

A total of $2 million is available under the program, with grants of up to $200,000 per project per annum. Matched funding or in-kind contributions are permitted but are not mandatory. Projects are expected to run for a period of 12 to 24 months.

The program supports place-based and cohort-focused initiatives across Tasmania that help individuals overcome barriers to education, training and employment. Funded projects are expected to strengthen pathways into sustainable employment while fostering collaboration among community organisations, training providers and employers.

Eligible activities include supported work readiness and foundation skills programs, entry-level and non-nationally recognised training, supported work exposure, work placements and employment trials. The program also supports services that test new approaches to improving access to training and employment pathways, participant support activities such as transport, childcare and engagement supports directly related to project delivery, and staffing and coordination costs associated with project implementation.

Applications are open to community service and not-for-profit organisations, charities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, community-based associations and clubs, businesses and employers including Group Training Organisations, Regional Jobs Hubs, and eligible Registered Training Organisations or Tasmanian vocational education suppliers. Applicants must demonstrate financial viability, maintain appropriate insurance coverage, and have child and youth safety arrangements in place.

The program is competitive, and applications will be assessed by a judging panel. Successful proposals will clearly demonstrate how project activities respond to identified barriers faced by specific cohorts and how outcomes will be achieved and measured.
