Leonardo invites innovators to push the boundaries of space technology through the New Perspectives for Space Inspection Challenge.
Aim
- The aim of this challenge is to advance research and technology in the field of space inspection, starting from robotic arms and manipulators for space applications up to, in particular:
- Capture systems for non-cooperative objects in orbit
- Orbital system handling and maintenance systems
- Robotic technologies for the installation of permanent infrastructures outside of Earth’s orbit such as the Moon and Mars
- Robotic technologies for the extraction of raw materials from asteroids and celestial bodies
- Components (e.g., controllers, FPGAs, microprocessors) designed to ensure high performance, energy efficiency and extreme reliability, taking into account the hostile conditions of space and capable of managing AI applications in space environment

- Established companies and/or research organizations that fall into the categories listed below can participate in the challenge and submit proposals for Innovative Solutions:
